Quick Fix: Clear Away Soap Scum With Half of a Lemon

Soap scum on your shower door can quickly build up and leave your shower looking dingy. And while there are a number of good cleaners on the market for tackling this nuisance, a simple, all-natural solution may be right in your kitchen.

Here are tips from Better Homes and Gardens and The Family Handyman on how you can use a lemon to remove soap scum from your shower.

Step 1: Cut a Lemon in Half

Using a knife, carefully cut a lemon in half.

Step 2: Rub the Lemon on the Shower Door

Gently rub the lemon on the glass shower door. Be sure to use the fruit side of the lemon, not the peel.

Step 3: Rinse the Door

Rinse the door using warm water. You may want to also use a squeegee after rinsing the door to remove the excess water. According to Better Homes and Gardens, doing this can help prevent hard-water buildup.

Step 4: Repeat

If you still need to get rid of some soap scum, repeat this process with the other half of the lemon.

The Family Handyman notes that, instead of using a fresh lemon, wiping the shower door with a sponge and lemon juice should also help remove soap scum.

Whether your regular cleaner just isn’t cutting it or you prefer a natural solution, a lemon and some elbow grease can help get your shower doors looking crystal clear again.
